Advertisement from 1858, for a book "Fit to Eat"!

Here is an advertisement I found that was published in Hamagid, March 18, 1858
The ad is for the book Hamashbir by Yosef Sheinhak. After the extended praise for the work, the newspaper informs us, that it is such a great book that it is fit to be eaten!

  1. The comment "fit to be eaten" is a play on the title "Hamashbir" which means, when used in the Torah, as a wholesale food supplier.

  2. Yeah, and it also means the book is delicious (which it is).

  3. I would translate "fit for consumption"
