To Print or Not To Print? An unusual Haskamah by the Divre Hayyim of Sanz

Rabbi Naftali Chaim Horowitz, published his commentary on the Passover Haggadah, titled Mincha Chadasha in Jerusalem, sporting 2 Haskamot, by the Divre Chaim and R. Yosef Shaul Nathansohn. The book was published in Jerusalem, where the author had settled after abruptly leaving his town in Europe, where he was revered by many Hasidim. The author shied away from all honor and preferred to live his life in privacy and devoted to study. In the Haskamah by the Divre Chaim, the author's wife's grandfather, he writes that he feels the author is too young and the book should not be published. He urges the author to focus his studies on Shulchan Aruch and matters of Halachah. R. Nathansohn, references the haskamah of the Divre Chaim and appears to second this opinion.

From the Haskamah of the Divre Chaim:
ולדעתי שתמתין בהדפסה כי צעיר אתה לימים ותלמוד מוטב ש"ע הרבה ודיני הוראה שהעולם נצרכים לו...ואקוה שתשמע לי
translating as: In my opinion, you should hold off the printing, as you are young in age, and it would be preferable that you studied Shulchan Aruch and focus on matters of Halacha, as that is something that the world is in need of.... and I hope you will heed my advice

The haskamah ends off with " והנני שולח לך מאה כסף עבור העופות ותודיעני היכן קנית באיזה מקום ומה אומרים באה"ק עליהם", translating as, I am sending you 100 silver coins for the chickens and you shall inform me where you had purchased them and what the opinion in regards to them is in the holyland

The background for the request of chickens can be read in the biography of the author. R. Naftali Chaim Horowitz, which appears in גדולי ירושלים by יעקב גליס. There was a dispute in Eastern Europe regarding certain chickens that originated in Corfu. R. Naftali Chaim was instructed to obtain these chickens, verify their kashruth and bring them to Europe. The intent of the Divre Chaim was to bring R. Naftali Chaim back to his country of origin, where his wife and children were left behind, after his sudden departure to the holy land. The halachik discussion regarding these chickens was penned in writing in the Divre Chaim's responsa, Shu"t Divre Chaim.

Why the author went ahead and printed the book, and why he chose to print the words of the Haskamot despite their suggesting the book shouldn't be printed, remains to be known
